Embiggen

"Embiggen" has been lodged in my head all week and it has been driving me nuts. Though yesterday I used it in a sentence. I weighed in at WORS registration on Don's scale and it displayed the numbers 203.2 as my weight. First of all, dammit. Oh well, at least I made the cut-off for the Clydesdale division. Oops, not quite. Don has it "calibrated" so that 204 point something is the cut-off display. Fine, I guess I have to drink something to embiggen myself enough to qualify. Water is 2.2# per liter so I went to the team doctor and I doped for a few minutes while I unloaded the bikes. I could have and perhaps should have chose beer but I wanted to ride after registration so water seemed like the logical choice. After getting the bikes off the car I checked the scale again- 205.2, um yippie? I flashed the NORBA card and wrote a check. It's officially racing season now.

Preride went as well as I can expect. The 13-23 cassette I picked up at WBW the other day works well. The Flyte works so well I'll be sitting on it rather than the Ferrous. Yeah, I know, I'm a single speeder. Well, until I get rid of enough weight where a cup of tea doesn't qualify my for Clyde I'll not be racing SS. I just have to get on the bike more.

Speaking of getting on the bike more, Karen has been doing that this year. Sephie is off with friends at the Wisco Dells so we put the off road tires on the Big Sur for Karen. While I was doping she was trying to not fall over in the parking lot on a strange bike. She had some success with that. I found Cupcake after registering and he was headed out for a lap with others. His better half Liz hooked up with Karen and I and we found all the easy trails on the course. After that lap we went backout again, this time I went out with Cupcake and she went out with Liz and Shari. She was accused of sandbagging by the girls but she had a good ride and managed to only bleed when the swarms of mosquitoes attacked. Holy crap they're thick this year.
