Miserable time on the bike this week

Friday's crap hasn't yet cleared. It's been cold (40's), windy and wet most of the week. Still, I've been out on the bike, head down, grinding away. Tuesday's training crit was in the rain. I stayed in the reduced field until 2 laps to go and I finished 300- 400 meters behind. I felt okay, but the smaller field kept the pace lower as did the rain. Wednesday was the WNBR in Oregon. The first mile or so was straight up hill though Bergamont Country Club. I showed up in time to miss the fast group but rode with Brian on his recently warrantied (new frame) Cervelo. He was killing it and my legs were wooden until 8 miles or so. About that time the sprinkles started and the lightning strikes got close enough to bump the heart rate up a few beats. Last night was better. The winds were there but the rains left. It was 65-ish at home but by the time Liz and I got to Belleville it was 'crisp'. We did the long loop together and had a nice dinner at the Great Dane. Today, after a short but hard day at work, we rolled over to Java Cat for caffeine and sticky buns. I won't be doing the Rhinelander WORS this weekend, but I will get in more saddle time. With the extra time spent at work this week I have a full day of comp-time to spend. SO I'll be taking Wednesday off and going to Milwaukee for the Bone Ride. It will be a 158 mile round trip from Milwaukee back to Madison (the route passes 2 blocks from my house) and back to Milwaukee. With the solo long rides I've done this year I'm optimistic about my legs staying in the game, I just have to hope I get in with a good group when the 150 or so divide up for the trip.
