Turn the knob to 11

Time's up!

The seasonal lay-off ends at 7am Monday morning. I made more use of my time this year unlike last year's 6 months off. Having snow and motivation in equal amounts helped. Getting out on the skate skis on cold days was more fun than trying to ride.

So now what's the plan? The job is over at Badger Prairie so it's nearly a straight shot across town to get to work. Monday I'll know more about tool storage, but if there's a gang box I'll be able to HTFU and ride the commuter every day. I do mean every day this time. It's also close enough to the foothills of western Dane County for making the most of the WNBR. I will have to start getting saddle time. Unless El Nino launches a sneak attack the roads should remain clear for a while. The weather has been in the mid-30's and higher so all the snow has been melting away gradually. I can easily see 70% of my front yard even if it is brown grass and cocoa mulch.

H8ter confirmation came via the Ministry of Propaganda for the Kitten Master. This year I could give a shit what the trail condition is like. I don't care what the weather is like as long as the sun is above the horizon... on our side of the hemisphere. Wind conditions? Yes, there should be wind conditions. This year I forecast 100% chance of Pain.

Road cycling season is quickly approaching. With Tiger's sponsors scattering like roaches in a suddenly lit kitchen, I wonder if corporate sponsorships will be picked up by the younger, faster riders which may leave crumbs for older, slower riders. In theory sponsors will find cyclists less risky than golfers. It's harder to "multi task" on a bicycle. I'm not saying it couldn't be done, but there's a level of fitness that must be maintained compared to simple skill and talent. There's no substitute for time in the saddle. I've said that twice now. I wonder if one is a subconscious euphemism? Nah.
