Turn the knob to 11

Who has the phone number for the Air Force?

Being unemployed may have advantages, but when the local news reporter leads with "the UFO was spotted by an unemployed electrician" it makes me sound like a looney.

Never mind yesterday's trail riding on the Flyte. Today had excitement! I headed out of town on the usual route but since the wind was coming out of the east I made my outbound leg into the teeth of the wind. The downside to heading east is the lack of significant climbing. The upside is I could keep my head down and try to maintain better than 20 mph. After 40 miles I was coming back toward Cottage Grove when I saw a sign that could be worthy of a sprint. I was ready to give it a go when I saw a silvery object appear just above the trees. I couldn't tell what it was but I had the camera so I took a quick shot.
Then it ducked below the trees as quick as it had appeared!. I may have had "tandem speed" last week but there was certainly no way I had "UFO speed." As I began the next "climb" it popped up again. I took another shot. Since it didn't appear to be getting further away I pinned it to see if I could get a better shot.

Maybe they're sizing up potential crop circle sites? When I crested the hill it had moved even further away.  It was as though it knew I was tracking it. It's just above the white sign in the driveway.

I could only manage a sustained 25 mph on the flats but I was gaining. It appeared as though it was directly over Cottage Grove but the roads I was on were taking me on a zig-zag route so I wasn't able to get any closer than when I first saw it. This is the best shot I could manage of its broadside. If you increase the magnification it gets a bit pixelated but you can almost make out an observation window on the underside with two uniformed beings at the controls.

If anyone gets through to NORAD or Agent Mulder tell them it was almost cigar-shaped.

Today's 53 miles
