I did the Wednesday Night Bike Ride... um ... Wednesday night. Mt Vernon is in the top three of the hillier rides, but it isn't so bad. I suffered on the up-hills (5-7mph most of the time) and killed many insects on the down-hills 42-ish on most with a max of 45 mph). There were a few familiar faces but no WORS folks that I saw.
I wasn't the most out of shape. This "bastardo" (look closely at his jersey) on the Carpet Fibre GT had that honor.
Speaking of WORS folks, I met one one the way home last night. Rolling on the back roads between work and home in the VW, I saw a cyclist wrestling with a dropped chain. Since I carry a card in my wallet that suggests I know which end of the wrench is which, I stopped to see if everything was okay. She was on her new road bike which hadn't had the limit screws of either derailleur adjusted. If you look at your WORS Sport results this year you will see: Lisa Olson #3017. I hope her MTB is in better shape than her road bike. If she needs a mechanic who works for beer, I'm her guy. A quick tune of the drive train and we split so I could get home for the Mt Vernon ride.
A couple of weeks ago I scored some French cranks for the Spare. Allegedly they belonged to some Irish racer. I think they look nice. The didn't prevent me from riding yesterday as the bike worked flawlessly.
