How ya doin'?

I pulled the blog-plug on myself a couple of weeks ago for a few reasons. Needing to get my mind right was at the top of the list. Apparently I've found a formula for off-season inactivity.

With most of the household projects at an end I find myself looking out the window at a cold and grey Wisco. The snows came and were soon followed by a rain which wrecks any cross country skiing trails. Which is fine, Santa brought me a really cool clip-on rear fender and a Trek handlebar clock (analog rawks!) which I affixed to the Flyte. I'll be fine on the roads, bike paths and I might even noodle to Blue Mounds on the Military Ridge Trail on the adequately equipped Flyte.

In local news the Brazen Drop-Outs are holding the annual Bike Swap this Saturday. I think I'll set up a roadblock on I-94 so I can be the first to rummage through Russell's leavings. Maybe I can pick up a light for 24/9 type stuff at the swap. On the subject of lights, Colin is doing okay. I haven't noticed a sign in the shop window advertising "free lights with every bike purchase" but maybe he's down-playing the whole thing.

In Interweb news, there's an addition to the right. Mr Montee has pulled the pin and has started blogging. Give him a thumb's up or tell him what you really think.

On the subject of folks faster than I, Brian Matter took a trip to Bruge and kicked some ass. He not only took on some of the world's best in a sport nobody wants to do, he had a good time in the process. My funds are a little strained but feel free to toss him a buck so he can go back for Worlds.

So what's on my agenda for 2009? Here you go:

1- Ride more. One way or another I have to be logging >200 miles a week on the road bike. 300 would be great and average at least one off road ride a week.
2- No more fast food. McDonalds, Burger King and Taco Bell will have to make due without me picking things off the dollar menu. It's calories I don't need unless I'm riding >500 miles a week.
3- Blog only about bike related life. Nobody has said anything but I don't think folks need to know about all the details of home life since I started blogging about the bike to begin with.
4- Have at least one podium finish. I'm currently drawing up plans for a modular podium which goes 15 deep.. or 20.

Okay then, that'll do it today. Get out and ride your bike, I'm planning to.

I've thought about this, too- You've gotta do what you've gotta do, but I'm keeping my blog mixed with life and biking. It's partly due to my 'audience' (relatives I don't see a lot), and partly to the hunch I have about my long winded race reports being boring. I think it's cool to spice up the same 'ol by showing a little of your life outside of biking.

I'll miss the remodeling projects :)
