A practical use of my time.

While many of my betters have debated the Pros and Cons of Road Bicycles and Mountain Bicycles, most have focused on the whole bikes. Most agree to have both Road and Mountain bikes available is the wisest of choices. While I feel quite passionate about my Road machines, I feel the Mountain bikes have potential uses that a Road cyclist can appreciate and even envy.

To that end I bring you ...

THE BEER CHALLENGE!

Here are the challengers... On the left is a 1999 Seven Axiom with Campagnolo Record Ergo 9. On the right is a 2006 Flyte Celcius 9 Single Speed 29er Mtb with drop bars.
And here is the Cold hearted Champion... 12 oz of one of Michigan's better brews, Bell's Two Hearted Ale.
Much has been made of Surly Tugnuts but they're absent from these contenders. I'll avoid the 9 cogs vs 1 cog debate as well. The Beer wins.
Many bikes have unique traits. While the Seven has some really cool brakes they're barely useful for bleeding speed and useless against a beer. The Flyte has a Wisecracker, but that'd be cheating as it isn't essential to the function of the bike on the trail. Thanks Ernesto.
Here we have a clear winner. While the Seven has one of the lighter pedals on the market it lacks any ability to open a Beer. The Flyte is equipped with a fairly common model of off road pedal which, in addition to shedding mud on the trail, can open a post ride beverage with minimal wrestling.
