Turn the knob to 11

Who let the dogs out?

I never liked the song, but it is a phrase that can have some uses. For instance on Sunday I pulled into the driveway and was greeted by a neighbor with a sweet golden retriever. Not her Golden, but one she had found on the corner eating day-old bread another neighbor puts out for the birds. Neither of us new the pup, but the only tags were current rabies vaccination from a vet in Washburn County. He looked in too good of shape to have hoofed it from that far (it's up by Spooner) so I figured he'd wandered off while his people were visiting for the weekend. We agreed I would let him stay in the back yard since it's fenced in and on the corner so if they walked by they'd surely see him. The neighbor was to call the vet and track down the people belonging to this great dog. I decided to give him a name and it would be "Beer." Everyone loves Beer, right? Besides, who wouldn't want to stand in a park and yell "Here Beer."

By the next day the owner was located. They lived only a few blocks away and in the chaos of getting their teens off on a road trip the dog "Frodo" had slipped away unnoticed. It wasn't until 3 hours later his people looked at each other and said "have you seen the dog?"

No now I know a few more neighbors. I love living on the east sieeda.

Today was a relatively easy ride with the WNBR group. Rather than driving to Marshall, I rode out there with Dan and John and Liz met us later with the van and the cooler of cold beer. I rode socially for the first half of the evening and then I had to put my head down and hurt for a while. I didn't realize until late that I may have been the only one with a route map. Sorry Dan. I ended up with nearly 50 miles for the evening and had a good time hanging with Liz, Dan and John for the evening.

I have added a new linky to the right side of the page. I should have added it sooner but for whatever reason I didn't. It's a blend of edgy and earthy that works. I think you'll like Kerry too.

Go back a few days and read the passage which begins "No group has tapped into this wisdom more successfully than singlespeed mountain bikers." I'm not sure where it came from or if Kerry wrote it, but I think in hits the mark.
I discovered some serious pain potential yesterday when I discovered a link on the Point Brewery site to a bike ride. There is a 134 mile ride from the Capital Brewery to the Point Brewery. Then I'd have to ride home so that's 268 miles or so round trip. Or I could pay $20 and get a ride back to Madison. Or I could ride half way and turn around and drink better beer at Ale Asylum and walk home. Sounds like a good way to spend a Saturday.
